What did they use big ships for?

What was Marco Polo famous for?

Marco Polo

Marco Polo was one of the most famous Medevil explores. He spent 20 years traveling throughout ancient China. He discoverd lots of amazing things like culture and stuff like that. Marco always went to new and great places throughout China!!! He relized lots of things about different places like some houses were made out of stone which was good and meant they were alittle bit weathier, but if the houses were made out of timber then that would mean that they were poor and even worse the timber usually started fires!!

big ships and the river.

Yes, the Chinease people did use bigger ships on the rivers. Some of the big ships were used on the big project like when they were digging the Wild Geese Cannel. This cannel would bring the troops from the Yellow River. So which would mean that they needed the big ships to get men to the cannel, also for the work they did building the dam's and cannels. so i geuss this should answer the question!

Compass.

Yes, the compass was invented in ancient China. It helped them learn directions and where to go on the sea. I think it helped them find where they wanted to go. When they had to go out on the open sea or a big adventure they used the compass to help tell them where to go. People dont really know how they came up with the compass or how they used it or even what they looked like!! All that we know is they could hopefully tell where they were going alot better than before!!!

The 3 Gorges dam.

Over the course of 4,000-year recorded history, the Yangtze became infamous for its devastating floods, which have taken more than 1 million lives during the past 100 years.  The ather of modern China, first proposed the idea of a hydroelectric dam at Three Gorges in 1919.  Although the government considered building the Three Gorges Dam during the 1960s, economic resources were limited. So they decided to build the Gezhouba dam first. The Gezhouba Dam took 18 years to build. After that was completed, they started right in on the huge Three Gorges dam.

Ships and the big Sea.

The third Emperor of the Ming Dynasty, the Yongle Emperor, built ships the size in which the world had never seen! I mean so big! They used these huge ships for trade. When the got into trade they got items that influenced their culture. Some of the things they got were food, clothing and the fun stuff they have today, but back in ancient China things weren't like they are today. Also they used the huge ships for exploring. Their favorite lands that they loved exploring were the distant lands from the Pacific Ocean. I mean WOW! Wouldn't you want to see how big the ships were?!
